Interventions in Clinical Scenario & International Pharmacist
An invited guest lecture was organised on 30-03-2019 about Interventions in clinical scenario and international Pharmacist. The lecture was delivered by Dr.Praveen Vayalunkal Jose, Clinical Pharmacist, DM Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Wayanad, Kerala. The lecture was on interventions in clinical scenarios and international pharmacist.
He shares his experiences and challenges in work place while handling different case and its clinical scenarios. Primary day to day responsibilities of clinical pharmacist in a hospital, Online Prescriptions, working along with senior physicians of different departments and about meeting out the regulatory requirements of foreign nations such as Canada, USA, Australia and Middle East countries to work as registered pharmacists within their territory.
Different Perspectives Of Clinical Pharmacist
An invited guest lecture was organised on 30.03-2019 about Different Perspectives of clinical Pharmacist l. The lecture was delivered by Dr.Tintu Babu, Clinical Pharmacist, DM Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Wayanad, Kerala. The lecture was on different perspectives of clinical pharmacist and significance of clinical pharmacist at different spheres of the profession. The session was attended by Pharm.D Students and Faculty members of our college.
In the session she highlights the importance of clinical pharmacist and how a clinical pharmacist differs from traditional dispensing pharmacist. She also discussed about various cases she handled, importance of developing anti-microbial stewardship to handle the alarming situation of Antibiotic resistance, Surgical Prophylaxis algorithm, Critical care, Anti-coagulation management services and Pharmacoeconomics. After the lecture our students actively participated in the Question & Answer session to clarify their doubts.
An Overview On Molecular Docking & Qsar
An invited guest lecture was organised on 23/02/2019 about overview of molecular docking and quantitative structure activity relationship. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Bijo Mathew, Associate professor, Division of Drug Design & Medicinal Chemistry Research Laboratory, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Ahalia School of Pharmacy, Palakkad, Kerala. The session was attended by Third and Final B.Pharm students, M.Pharm Students and Third year Pharm.D students and faculty members of the college.
Dr.Bijo Mathew spokes about need of designing synthetic drugs to treat many ailments and about QSAR, Molecular Docking and applications of computer assisted tools in the discovery of synthetic drugs.
Immunology
A invited guest lecture was organised on the topic Immunology on 23.01.2019. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ramesh ramasamy, Phd ., Department of pathology, Faculty of medicine and Health sciences, university putra, Malaysia. The lecture was attended by Pharm.D, Final B.Pharm and M.Pharm students. Dr.Ramesh shared his views about current perspective in the immunology discipline and also about the basic of immunology and role youngsters in the discipline. The session was more interactive and students participated in Q & A session.
The Art Of Writing Research Projects
A invited guest lecture was organised on 15/09/2018 about the art of writing research proposals. The lecture was delivered by K N Chidambara Murthy , M.Pharma, PhD, DR&D., Central Research Laboratory , Ramaiah Medical College & Hospitals, Bengaluru. He shared his views about the importance of academic research in solving national issues with local solutions, Ethics in research, Plagiarism, Elements of research proposal, role of academic research in policy making. All the teaching faculties attended the session.
PET Tracers of Clinical Importance
An invited guest lecture was organized on 08/01/2018 about Herbal formulations from Selection to standardization. Dr. Manikandan Kathirvel, B. Pharm., M.Phil., Ph.D Research Fellow, Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry, Division of Pharmacy & Optometry, Manchester Pharmacy School, Manchester. M13 9PT. UK
Dr. Manikandan spoke on PET Tracers of Clinical Importance in detecting the cancer at early stages. He shared his research experience, case analysis with documentary evidences. He also highlighted the opportunities for the Pharma graduates to do the higher studies in UK and job opportunities available to them.
Herbal Formulation
An invited guest lecture was organised on 30/01/2018 about Herbal formulations from Selection to standardisation. Dr. P. Venkatesh, M. Pharm., Ph.D., Head, Research and development, Ayurker products Pvt. Ltd, Cochin, has delivered the talk on selection and standardisation of herbal formulations with respect to Industrial Aspects.
He elaborates the challenges involved in the standardisation of herbal drugs, market potential of herbal formulations and advancement in analytical techniques in quality control of herbal formulations. All the staff members, students attended the lecture. The session was more interactive and the students got more information about selection and standardisation of herbal formulations.
Emotional intelligence for adaptability in working place
An invited guest lecture was organised on 10th March, 2017. Mr. M. N. Poornachandra Shetty, M. Pharm., Principal Scientist-I, Analytical R&D, Advinus Therapeutics Limited briefed about the current scenario in analytical research and development at an contract research organisations in India and around the world. He further explained about how the students must self motivate themselves to built up a successful career. He spoke about “EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE FOR ADAPTABILITY IN WORKING PLACE” and added valuable points on how to regulate and express our emotions in working place, while studying. He also highlighted on intelligence; the ability to handle emotions and apply them to tasks like thinking and problem solving. The session was attended by all staff members and students and the session was well appreciated by students.
Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance: Industrial Aspects
An invited guest lecture was organised on 04/02/2017 about drug safety. Dr. PARAMAGURU. R, Assistant Manager – Drug Safety, Division of Life Sciences, Tata Consultancy Services, Mumbai, elaborated the regulations of drug safety and Pharmacovigilace with respect to Industrial Aspects. All the staff members, B.Pharm and M.Pharm students attended the lecture. The speaker focused on the necessity and importance of pharmacovigilance and its concerns in and around the globe regarding the safety aspects. He also briefs about global scenario, industry set-up, various regulatory agencies and opportunities in the area of pharmacovigilance. The session was more interactive and the students got clear perspective about the opportunities in life science division.
Global Challenges & Opportunities in Clinical Research

A guest lecture on the topic “Global Challenges & Opportunities in Clinical Research” was held at SVCP Seminar Hall on 28.01.2017 at 11.30 am by Mr. P. Anandapadmanaphan, Managing Director, Consortium Clinical Research Pvt Limited, Coimbatore. He had 26 years of work experience in administration, human resource management, infrastructure development an Clinical Research. The speaker introduction was given by Miss. Absey Varghese, Pharm. D Intern & the lecture started at 11.45 am. Different types and phases of clinical trials, stake holders of clinical research, expertise required for the efficient management of clinical research factors for the growth of clinical research industry were the main contents of seminar.
He discussed about the percentage of clinical research activities in different countries & emphasized the challenges in India or why India is lagging in research activities as compared to other countries. He introduced different job opportunities in clinical research starting from clinical research assistant to CEO of Pharmaceutical Company, how to attend the interviews & pointed the common mistakes of people before coming for an interview. He also highlighted that the Pharmacy Students can bring out the clinical research in a more efficient manner than others. He ended the session with a message that “Strong Conviction can achieve anything in our life” Dr. G. Muruganandhan, Principal, SVCP was honored the speaker with a momento & the session completed at 1.00 pm.
The seminar was found to be informative to the students especially Pharm. D and B.Pharm who are interested to work in Clinical Research.
“Nutraceutical Industry: Global Regulations Potential & Opportunities”

Invited guest lecture was conducted on 07.01.2017 at SVCP Seminar Hall on the topic “Nutraceutical Industry: Global Regulations Potential & Opportunities”. Dr., H.N. Shivaprasad ., M.Pharm., Ph.D., Director Technical, Prakruti Products, Karwar, Karnataka. All the students, and the staffs had attended the session. During the session the speaker explained the global regulations of nutraceuticals in different countries, importance and medicinal values of herbal drugs. He also stressed the potentials and opportunities of nutraceuticals throughout the world. He also highlighted job opportunities and different openings for the PG students in this area. He had given clarifications to the queries by the students regarding import and export of herbal drugs in India.
In continuation of CPE programme for Pharm. D students and an extent of 6th World Pharmacist Day celebration, Department of Pharmacy Practice organized a guest lecture on 01/10/2016 at Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy. The speaker was Dr. Radhakrishnan Rajesh. M. Pharm., Ph.D., Asst. Professor, Dept of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal University, Karnataka. He delivered interactive speech on the topic entitled “Credentials and Career of Pharm.D Graduates: The Voyage Never Ends”.
The session started at 11.00 am with the welcome address by Dr. T. Tamilselvan, HOD, Department of Pharmacy Practice and the speaker was introduced by Miss. Absey Varghese V Pharm. D.
The lecture mainly focused on the differences in the curriculum of Pharm.D in US and India and credentials that may support the career of Pharm.D graduates to excel in the pharma field. He discussed about globally available opportunities for Pharm.D graduates in Hospitals, Clinical Research Organization, Public Health, Industry and Community segments.
He concluded the session with the details regarding higher studies and specializations after the Pharm.D programme and information regarding free medical app and its applications, which will help the students to expertise and update the knowledge through internet and other online services.
He shared his experiences in the University of South California- USC School of Pharmacy, Australia (Canberra, Sydney) and United Kingdom (London) visits. Thereafter the session was open for interaction with students and staffs. The queries asked by the students and staffs were answered in a very informative manner.
The session was very informative and beneficial for the upcoming Pharm.D graduates in order to focus more on their career options. Our staff and all Pharm.D students were actively participated in the sessions.
The session was concluded at 1.30pm with the vote of thanks was given by Dr. G Murugananthan, Principal Swmay Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy and the speaker was honoured.
