Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis
Welcome to the Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis
The Department was started in 2010 to afford a spotlight for Pharmaceutical Analysis at Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy Tiruchengode. The department is provided with eminent faculty and researchers. The postgraduate laboratory for Pharmaceutical Analysis is equipped with latest analytical state-of-the-art equipments and trained analysts to undertake pharmaceutical analysis graduates. Postgraduates have core subjects like Advanced Pharmaceutical Analysis, Quality Assurance and they are specifically trained in Bioanalytical methods, GLP and documentation systems. The Pharmaceutical Analysis laboratory is closely associated with other departments of the Institution.
The major research programmes are largely focused on new analytical method development. The department involves in various research activities like development and validation of novel analytical methods by using HPLC, UV - Visible Spectrophotometer and FT - IR Spectrophotometer. The faculty members have been attending various seminars, workshops and conferences at National and International levels. They have also publishing their research findings in National/International journals. Many research projects are currently under way in a range of general and specific analytical problems utilizing a variety of instrumental and mathematical techniques.
The main research areas being actively involved in the department are,
- Development and Validation of Analytical Methods for Multi component formulations.
- Development and Validation of Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic models of certain new formulations.
- Development and Validation of Analytical Methods for detection and quantification of food marker compounds in food products.
- Development and validation of Chiral separation of some Enantiomeric drugs by HPLC.
- Conducting the workshops & seminars for academicians and chemists in quality control departments on analytical method development.
- Analysis of Drug Impurities.
