National Symposium

A two day National Symposium on “Emerging Infectious Diseases and Novel Drug Development” is Jointly organized by the Department of Microbiology, Vivekanandha College of Arts and Science for Woman (Autonomous), Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy, was held on 07.07.2017 and 08.07.2007 at Vivekanandha College of Arts and Science for Women (Autonomous),Valliammai Seminar Hall. The Title of the Symposium is (EID-NDD ‘17). The importance of this symposium is the inevitable, but unpredictable appearance of new infectious diseases has been recognized for millennia. Today, however despite extraordinary advances in the development of counter measures there may be some diseases that affect not only the health but the economic stability of societies. Awareness in drug development can be motivated.

The event started with formal inaugural function at 09.30am. The function started with invocation song. It is followed by the welcome speech given by Dr. G. Muruganthan, Principal of Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy, Elayampalayam. Presidential address was given by The Chairman & Secretary of Vivekanandha Educational Institutions Prof. Dr. M. Karunanithi. The chief guest of the session was Dr. E. M. Shankar, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Life Sciences, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Tiruvarur. Felicitation was offered by Dr. S. Arthanareeswaran, Executice Director of Vivekanandha Educational Institutions. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. A. Malarvizhi, Head, Department of Microbiology, College of Arts and Science for Women (Autonomous).

The first session was about “Emerging concepts on Immunopathogenesis of Experimental Meliodosis” Dr. E. M. Shankar, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Life Sciences, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Tiruvarur, presented his ongoing research specialization to the participants. In the afternoon session, Dr. M. Thiyagarajan, Technical Manager, NATSYN CATALYSTS, Namakkal, presented his active research objectives to the participants on “Development of Natural Molecules for Infectious Diseases”. Students across various reputed from India have participated in the symposium. They are the promising seeds for the novel development in the medicinal field. Innovating minds and speaking personality was brought out by the students and benefitted other to gain the knowledge on the Second day of National Level symposium has began at 10.30 AM. The Session was started with the research development on “Recombinant Antibody Drugs in Oncology”. In seeking out with curious eye, the participants and the organizers had discussion among themselves.

The second session was started by 1.30 P.M. Dr. Rajesh Sankara Narayanan, Principal Investigator, Syngene International limited, Bangalore, delivered his view on “HIV Anti retroviral drugs”. Papers were contributed by the participants were under each broad topics followed by the exchange of National experiences enriched the discussions and raised the issues.

The symposium ended with valedictory Address and Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.C.Jothimanivannan, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical chemistry, Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy, Elayampalayam, Tiruchengode.

Application of Sophisticated Instrumental Methods for The Analysis of Herbal Drugs

Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy, Elayampalayam, Tiruchengode, has organized National Level seminar on “APPLICATION OF SOPHISTIOATED INSTRUMENTAL METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF HERBAL DRUGS”. Welcome address was given by Dr.G.Murugananthan, Principal, Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy. Mr. S. Varadharaju, Admission Director, Dr. S.K. Rajkumar, Executive Officer Vivekanandha Medical Care Hospital gave speech. Prof.Dr.M.Karunanithi, Chairman & Secretary, Tmt. Krishnaveni Karunanithi, Dr.S.Arthanareeswaran, Executive Director, Dr.K. Sreeraganathi Arthanareeswaran, Director wished the function for grand success.

In this function Eminent speakers Dr.R.Sundaram Group Leader Himalaya Drug company Bengaluru, Dr.K.Kannan Prof & Head (Retd) Annamalai University, Dr.Rajendra JC Bose Chung – Ang University, South Korea, shared their experience of work on importance of herbal drugs for the management of chronic disease like cancer, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, arthritis and various advanced Analytical Methods for the Analysis herbal drugs. They also emphasiser on Nano technology. Finally session was concluded by giving vote of thanks by Dr. K. Anandakumar.
