Guest Lecture on PHARMACY PRACTICE IN INDIA

A guest lecture was conducted by Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice on 27.04.2016 between 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm at BDS Seminar Hall on the topic “PHARMACY PRACTICE IN INDIA”. Dr. P.R. Anand Vijaya Kumar, M.Pharm., Ph.D., Department of Pharmacy Practice, J.S.S. College of Pharmacy, Ooty was the speaker of the session. Dr. T. Tamilselvan, Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice, welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker. More than 140 Pharm. D students from 1st Year to 5th Year and the staffs from various departments had attended the session. During the session the speaker explained the categories of Pharm. D subjects, correlation among subjects in Pharm. D curriculum and how to improve the knowledge during ward rounds. He also stressed the importance of Pharmaceutical care services provided by the clinical pharmacists to improve the therapeutic outcome and quality of Life. Job opportunities and the competency in clinical sector were the main contents of the session. He had given relevant classifications to the queries by the students regarding implementation of fellowship program, clinical pharmacist in specialty hospitals and about the banned drugs in India.

ICPP - 2016

“INDIAN CONGRESS OF PHARMACY PRACTICE - 2016 & 2nd CONVENTION OF INDIAN ASSOCIATION OF PHARMACY PRACTICE” was held at Hotel Le Meridien, Coimbatore on 2nd & 3rd April, 2016. The theme of the conference was “The Responsible Pharmacist Transforming Patient Care”. Total 52 SVCP students from 3rd and 5th Pharm.D and 5 faculties of Department of pharmacy Practice were participated. Our PCI President made us dream about the future by giving a brief presentation on paramount issues & opportunities. After first day lunch we learnt from Dr. Debra Rowelt that to transform patient care we need good evidence on harms & benefits of medicines. We were informed about the “Tech Global” a learning application that would help us gain more knowledge about the Pharm.D subjects. Second day there were scientific poster presentation, students from various colleges presented more than 200 research works. It gives us a platform to learn different types of work and methodologies. Faculties and M. Pharm Pharmacy Practice students from our college also presented scientific articles in the poster session. Sessions were discussed on scope of Pharm.D in Pharmacovigilance & Pharmacoeconomics which gave clarity about taking a decision. Dr. V. Kalaiselvan, Principal Scientific officer, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad on “Pharmacists engagement in PvPI”; and Dr. Anand Harugeri, Associate Director, Pharmacovigilance, Quintiles, Bangalore on “Pursuing Pharmacovigilance career in the industry. After the lunch, there was a panel discussion on “Pharmacy Care Policy” by Dr. B. Suresh, Mr. Milke Ronse, Dr. Debra Rowelt & other included in the panel. The discussion gives us more information about “Pharmaceutical Care” works in & out of the country.

Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy Celebrated 54th National Pharmacy week celebrations on the theme of “Responsible Use of Antibiotics Saves Lives” on 11.12.2015 at the College Premises. Program inaugurated by Vidhya Rathna, Prof. Dr. M. KARUNANITHI, B.Pharm., M.S., Ph.D., D.Litt., Chairman & Secretary, Vivekanandha Educational Institutions and the Celebrations Started with lighting of Divine lamp by Tmt. Krishnaveni Karunanithi. Dr.S.Ananda Thangadurai, Principal, Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy welcomed the chief guest Prof T.K.Ravi. Principal, SRIPMS, College of Pharmacy, felicitate the function. The Chief guest distributed the prizes for the winners of Sports & Cultural events. Executive Director, Director & executive officer of Vivekanandha Educational Institutions, Professors, Staff and Students were participated in the function.
