Research
The overarching theme of research in the Department of Pharmacology is to discover the fundamental mechanisms that underlie important problems in Pharmacology and invention of new drugs. Major research areas of the Department include Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Neuro Pharmacology, Chrono Pharmacology, Toxicological studies and Pharmacological intervention in cancer and other diseases.
The Post graduate students of the Department of Pharmacology will submit their extended dissertation of research project during the Final year. There is a vast scope for research in the Department of Pharmacology since Preclinical Research & Clinical Research is essential components of Drug Discovery Research.
Inter-Departmental Facilities
The Department of Pharmacology work in collaborating with the Department of Pharmacy practice in research areas like Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM), ADR monitoring, comparative studies of efficacy, safety, tolerability and side effects of different drugs of similar therapeutic class etc.,
The Department of Pharmacology also supports other Departments of Pharmacy and Biotechnology and Biological Sciences for their preclinical evaluation of synthesized drugs/derivatives, phyto-constituents and novel dosage forms development, Our Department of Pharmacology also assists the Vivekanandha Medical Care Hospital for toxicological studies of given samples.
