Animal House

The Department of Pharmacology has its own well maintained fully Air conditioned Animal House with four species of rodents (Mice, Rat, Guinea Pig and Rabbit) which are all care with humane and maintained hygienically. Software pertaining to alternatives in animal experimentation are also been practiced to undergraduate as well as postgraduate students. A full time Veterinarian is available for the welfare of the laboratory animals. The Animal house was approved by Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA), New Delhi (Govt. of India) with Registration No. 889/PO/Re/S/05/CPCSEA and under the control of our Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) which is approved by CPCSEA, New Delhi, up to 2023.

Departmental Library

The Department has its own library comprising of more than 300 standard books of latest editions written by international and national authors and also provides a free access to central library for reference books.

Computer Facilities

The Department of Pharmacology has its own computer lab consist of 10 advanced systems with 24 hrs unlimited Internet facilities. All members of the Department are provided with separate computer during the College hours.

Museum

The Department has a well maintained museum with the working models and Specimens on Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology.

Teaching

The Department of Pharmacology has well experienced and qualified teaching staff team for effective teaching to all students. Special care was taken for each student up to understand the basic concepts in Pharmacology as well as Human Anatomy and Physiology. The Department also consist of well experienced Non-teaching staff team for Lab Assistance. All the academic staffs are highly motivated to share a commitment to top-quality teaching which emphasizes general principles and integrates into it the latest findings of modern research.

Research

The overarching theme of research in the Department of Pharmacology is to discover the fundamental mechanisms that underlie important problems in Pharmacology and invention of new drugs. Major research areas of the Department include Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Neuro Pharmacology, Chrono Pharmacology, Toxicological studies and Pharmacological intervention in cancer and other diseases.

The Post graduate students of the Department of Pharmacology will submit their extended dissertation of research project during the Final year. There is a vast scope for research in the Department of Pharmacology since Preclinical Research & Clinical Research is essential components of Drug Discovery Research.

Inter-Departmental Facilities

The Department of Pharmacology work in collaborating with the Department of Pharmacy practice in research areas like Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM), ADR monitoring, comparative studies of efficacy, safety, tolerability and side effects of different drugs of similar therapeutic class etc.,

The Department of Pharmacology also supports other Departments of Pharmacy and Biotechnology and Biological Sciences for their preclinical evaluation of synthesized drugs/derivatives, phyto-constituents and novel dosage forms development, Our Department of Pharmacology also assists the Vivekanandha Medical Care Hospital for toxicological studies of given samples.
