WORLD HEPATITIS DAY 28th JULY 2019
THEME: “Invest in eliminating hepatitis”
III - Pharm D students along with 4 faculty members and 1 supporting staff from Swamy Vivekanandha college of Pharmacy had observed “World Hepatitis Day” in Kailasampalayam Government School on 30/07/2019 and organised an awareness programme to children regarding Hepatitis. The official theme for Hepatitis Day this year is “Invest in eliminating hepatitis”
They reach the school around 10.30 a.m and started the session by giving an introduction about liver and its related diseases. Our students also explained the basic health and hygiene for children, there was great response from students as well as from teachers of the school. They had good interaction with the school childrens. Morning session was concluded with teaching good touch & bad touch to school childrens.
Afternoon session was engaged by conducting games and prizes such as snack boxes, chocolates, erasers, sharpeners were distributed to the winners. Our students gave common gifts for all students.
It was indeed very satisfied experience for our students as it could bring smiles on childrens faces. The school management kept an obligation regarding the regular visit of our students to the school and they requested our contribution for the development of the school. “Our highest deeds come from helping the lowest people"

WORLD HEALTH DAY -07th April 2019
World health day was observed by our M.Pharm students on 10th April 2019 on the theme “Health for All – Everyone, Everywhere”. Students organised many events highlights the importance of human health and happiness to lead a good life. Principal Dr.G.Murugananthan addresses the gatherings and shares his thoughts and ideas to lead a healthy life. Pick and speak, Speech in Tamil and English , Connections, Poster presentations, Mass exercise and zumba dance , quiz Program were organised that highlights the theme. Prizes were distributed for the winners of the events. All the Faculty members Third and Final B.Pharm Students, Final Pharm.D Students participated in the event.
Community Activity - 15th April 2019
Department of pharmacy practice organized an academic outreach activity in accordance with ‘days of importance’ at two primary health centres located in Manickampalayam and Thimmaravuthampatty. 3 teaching staffs Dr. M. Ranga Priya, Mr. S. Anandkumar, Mrs. P. Parkavi Rani and 2 non-teaching staffs Mrs. M. Poongodi and Mrs. Selvamani accompanied 28 students of IV-Pharm D.
Community program at primary healthcare center was a good experience to observe and study the patient related problems. Initially, students had collected the patient demographic details like patient name, age, weight, height, body mass index, social history, and mainly chief complaints, blood pressure, past medical history, past medication history, lab parameters, and current medications. The observations were recorded in the individual data entry form.
Most of the patients came for the periodical checkup and collection of medicines in regular time intervals for diabetes mellitus, and hypertension. The patients were counseled individually with the pamphlets consists of disease awareness which will be beneficial to the patients having diabetes mellitus, hypertension. The basic health hygiene was taught to the patients suffered from infections like fever and cold. Finally, there was an interaction between the doctor and the students at PHC about the In-Patients admitted in the ward.
Interacting and educating the rural people was very enlightening and informative. Students showed their care towards the patients in very effective manner. The community program was completed at 1.00 PM.
World Water Day – 22 nd March 2019
Whoever you are, wherever you are water is our human right. Water being the fundamental element of all living creature, it is the right time to use the water carefully and save it for our future generations. World water day was observed by First B. Pharmacy students on 04th April 2019. All faculty members and B.Pharmacy students witness the event.
Students highlighted the importance of water and organized many events highlights the scarcity of water, how to save water, minimizing misuse of water. Students also portrayed the importance of water with different variety of events. They staged a mime, a Drama, a speech and a dance that highlights the importance of water, socioeconomic problems in the society because of water scarcity. The event was displayed with charts, Models and Paintings that stressed the importance of sustainable use of water and its conservation for the betterment of Humanity.
International Womens Day - 11th March 2019
International women’s day was observed by our Fifth Pharm.D students on 11th March 2019. The venue of the event was well decorated and displayed with the quotes that highlight the theme and importance of women’s in the society. International women’s day is significant all over the world and is observed every year on 08th March 2019. Balanceforbetter is the theme of this year women’s day and our students performed many events that parallels the theme.
History and significance of the women’s day speech in Tamil was delivered by G.Ilakya. A motivational talk with the glimpses of inspiring women personalities in English was delivered by Jiya shaji. And finally mind blowing and inspirational speech in Malayalam was delivered by irine Jacob about inspiring women personalities, Arunima Sinha a female amputee and volley ball player who scales Mount Everest and mount Vinson and about Nadia murad a social activist from Iraq. A visual quiz program identifying eminent women personalities was organised.
National Youth Day - 12th January 2019
National youth day was observed with great joy and enthusiasm by our D.Pharmacy students on 12th January 2019. The day is observed by our students to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda maker of the modern India.
Our students organised many events such as dance, drama and elocution in Tamil and English that highlights the ideals of a youth in a society spelled by Vivekananda and their responsibility as a part of main stream in the nation building activity. The event was witnessed by all faculty members, B.Pharm Pharm.D and M.Pharm students.
National Voters Day - 25th January 2019
National voters day was observed by our students on 25th January 2019. All the faculty members and Students of our pharmacy college took pledge on the occasion of the National Voters' Day. The main motive behind observing national voters day is to encourage, facilitate and maximize the enrolment, especially for the eligible new voters and to ensure universal adult franchise.
India is a democratic country. Every citizen has basic rights to vote. He or she has right to select his or her leader to whomever they think is capable of leading the nation, solve the problems of common people, bring about change . National Voters Day is a significant root of India as future of the country lies in the leader that we choose.
World Aids Day - 01st December 2018
Our Final B.Pharm Students and faculties observed world aids day on 01/12/2018 at Nambikkai illam, Lathuvadi, Namakkal. They spent their whole day with the children’s of the home. Our students organised various sports and cultural activities for the home children. The winners of the events were awarded with prizes such as notebooks, pencils, pens, scales, sharpeners and eraser by our students and faculty.
We observed the happiness of the children while they are collecting the compliments from us. All the children looked so excited and joyful. The caretaker of the children at orphanage home helped us to conduct various activities along with us. Necessary arrangements were made to provide food for the children at home. We served the food for them in the lunch time.
As per the theme, we continued our programme with “PLANT SAPLING AND DISTRIBUTION” at the home. The students and faculties from orphanage joined with us for plant saplings with lot of enthusiasm.
National Pharmacy Week 17th – 20th December 2018
57th National pharmacy week 2018 was observed by our students and faculty members with the theme “Pharmacists for a Healthy India” from 17th to 20th December 2018. National pharmacy week was observed every year by pharmacists all over the world to mark the significance of pharmacists in the health care system. Pharmacists have a key role with medications from its discovery to safe and effective use by a patient. Pharmacists have a typical wide responsibility in health care system as a Community pharmacist and Clinical Pharmacist with Hospitals, as a drug manufacturing chemist and analytical chemist with Pharmaceutical industries, as a pharmacy teacher and scientific researcher with academic institutions, the roles and responsibilities of pharmacist is more within the sphere of health care system.
Pharmacy week is observed with many brain storming events to enrich the knowledge and attitude of student community.

Day - 1: 17/12/2018 of the 57th pharmacy week celebrations begins with Essay writing and Elocution competitions in English and Tamil.
Day - 2: 18/12/2018 session was inaugurated with lighting a kuthuvilaku by principal and senior faculty members of the college. Chief guest address was given by Mr.T.C.Ashok kumar, B.Pharm., Regional sales manager , Johnson and Johnson, India. Presidential address was given by Dr. Krupanidhi karunanidhi, vice chairman, Vivekananda educational institutions, vote of thanks was given by Dr.K.Ananda kumar, M.Pharm,Ph.D., Professor and Head , Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis.
A tamil patimandram was organised by our students followed by inauguration session on the topic “இன்றைய இளைய தலைமுறையினர் உறவுகளையும் மரபுகளையும் மதிக்கிறார்கள் / மிதிக்கிறார்கள்”. Dr.K.Karumuruganandharajan, Senior Tamil professor of the Vivekananda college of Arts and Science for Women, Tiruchengode. Served as moderator for this tamil pattimandram.
Day - 3:19/12/2018 session was started with a rally by our college students at Tiruchengode at 10:30 Am. They march a rally from Tiruchengode old bus stand to Government hospital, Tiruchengode. Rally was started by Chief Pharmacist, Government Hospital, Tiruchengode. A blood donation camp was organised at government hospital, Tiruchengode, over 30 students and faculty members donate their blood in the camp. Rangoli competition was organised on the theme “Save water Support Agriculture” during afternoon session.
Day - 4: 20/12/2018 was filled with many cultural events to express the talents of students. Group Song, Solo Song, Group Dance, Solo Dance, Adaptune, Antakshari, Fashion show were conducted. Prizes were distributed for the winners after the cultural events.
Dengue Awareness programme 13th November 2018
A dengue awareness programme was organised on 13th November 2018. The programme was organised in association with Primary Health Centre, Ernapuram , Namakkal. All the students and Faculty members participated in this programme and took pledge they will adopt good hygiene and clean habits at all time and will ensure the absence of stagnant water in the surrounding environment to prevent and destroy the growth of destroy the Aedes larvae. Dr.Boopathyraja form Primary Health Centre, Ernapuram participated in this programme and educates our students how to prevent, combat and manage Dengue fever. Nilavembu Kudineer was distributed to all the participants of the awareness programme that potentially inhibits dengue fever.
World Food Day - 16th October 2018
Path Towards Zero Hunger
Our third B.Pharmacy students from Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy were expressed their willing to perceive “World Food Day” on 13.10.18 with orphanage at ST. Theresa's Home for children, Elanagar, Namakkal. The official goal of the day was to "Our actions are our future. A zero hunger world by 2030 is possible."
With this motto we, third B. Pharm students along with 06 faculties and 02 supporting staff reached the orphanage around 11:00 AM on 13.10.18 to observe “World Food Day” at ST. Theresa's Home for children, Elanagar, Velagoundampatti, Namakkal. The children were very pleasantly excited to receive us. Our students greeted them with great enthusiasm. There was huge smile on their faces of orphanage children and our students were very happy to interact with them.
We made necessary arrangement to provide food for the children with the help of the home in-charge and we started enthusiastically to serve the food for them at 12.45 PM. As per the quote “To serve the poor is to serve the God” we observed smile on their face and also our students were fully satisfied in their service.
As a part of this observation we conducted games among the students according to their age group. Children came forward and participated with interest and cheer. The winners were honoured with prizes such as notebooks, pencils, pens, scales, sharpeners and eraser by our students and faculty.
As per the theme of “World Food DAY” we continued our programme with “TREE Sapling” at the home. Our respected Principal Dr.G.Murugananthan and Dr. D.SenthilRajan Professor & Head, Department of Pharmaceutics joined with us for tree saplings with lot of cheer.
At the end of this session as a token of love our students wholeheartedly provided gifts, fruits, chocolates, toys, pillows, bed sheets to them. We observed the happiness of the children while they are collecting the compliments from us. Finally we came back from the home with sweet remembrance of those children.
We wholeheartedly render our thanks to our beloved Chairman and Secretary & The Management for providing all facilities to observe this day with successful manner. We express our gratitude to our beloved Principal Dr.G.Murugananthan, Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy for his valuable suggestions, remarkable guidance and also constant encouragement in all aspects.
“A journey is easier when you travel together. Interdependence is certainly more valuable than independence”. It is a pleasant aspect that we had the opportunity to express our gratitude for all for their immense support.

World Pharmacist Day - 25th September 2018
Theme : “Pharmacist – Your Medicines Expert”
The World Pharmacist Day Celebrations was organized by the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Swamy Vivekanandha College of Pharmacy, Elayampalayam, on 25th September 2018 at Vivekanandha Vidhya Bhavan, Elayampalayam.
The Programme was focused to create awareness among Higher Secondary School students, especially girls. The programme started at 11.30 pm with the welcome note by the Principal, Vivekanandha Vidhya Bhavan. He acknowledged the pharmacists for their valuable contributions in the health care system.
Dr. M.Ranga Priya, Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice delivered her address emphasizing the importance of the programme and insisted the key role of pharmacists in the health care team. She also briefed the importance of the rationale use of medicines.
The Student awareness programme was hosted by 04 M.Pharm students and 16 Pharm.D interns. It included various sessions as follows:
Session I: Role of Pharmacist in Health Care
The session gave elaborate information on the roles and responsibilities held by the Pharmacist in the Health care profession. It also included the opportunities for D.Pharm., B.Pharm., M.Pharm., and Pharm. D graduates in various relevant fields. Session delivered by Ms.Shabana, Pharm.D intern & Mrs. T.Kumutha, Assistant Professor.
Session II: Menstrual Hygiene
This session was focused on the menstrual cycle and its impact on the quality of life of the students. Also, Students were given proper training in maintaining their personal hygiene during the menstrual cycle. The session was very interactive and useful as the entire student population comprised of girls alone. Session handled by Ms.Aneeta T Eldho, Pharm.D intern & Dr.M.RangaPriya, Head.
Session III: Balanced Diet
Session explained the nutritional value of the regular food intake and more emphasize was given to the importance of a complete Balanced Diet. Students were given proper counseling regarding the various diets that are to be followed during examinations, menstruation and other stressful situations. Session presented by Ms.Harini, Pharm.D intern & Mrs. P.Parkavi Rani, Assistant Professor.
Session IV: Stress Management
This session included the several stressful situations that any adolescent child would encounter and the various combating measures to manage their stress in a better manner including simple physical and breathing exercises. Session taken over by Ms.Jisna George, Pharm.D intern & Dr.M.RangaPriya, Head.
Felicitation Address was given by Mr.Joseph Stalin, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice. He congratulated the students for their healthy lifestyle and Counseling was given for their regular health issues.
Mr. Anand Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice delivered the vote of thanks. Totally 88 higher secondary girl students were benefitted by the World Pharmacist Day Programme.
