NATIONAL VOTERS DAY – 2020
10-th National Voters day 2020 was observed by our Student's and Faculty member's. This day was observed with the motive of spreading awareness among young voters, about voting to elect a right people's representative from a political party who can fulfill their needs and help in the development of a particular area. Our Student's and Faculty members took pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free,fair and peaceful elections,and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion,race,caste,community,language or any inducement’.
NATIONAL POLLUTION PREVENTION DAY - 2019
Our IV Pharm D students observed National Pollution Prevention day on 6th January, 2020 with the theme ‘AN INSPIRATION TO FIGHT AGAINST THE POLLUTION’. The programme begun with a flash mob in SVCP campus to aware the students on reducing the usage of plastics and save our Mother Earth. Students from the whole department of Pharmacy Practice, HODs from various departments and all teaching staffs attended the session. The session started with the Tamilthaaivazhth. A video was presented showing the fire tragedy caused at Amazon forest. Another video was also played showing the history of celebrating National Pollution Prevention Day, The Bhopal Gas Calamity. An introduction speech was given regarding the history, cause of pollution and other related topics.
An awareness dance was performed by Ms. Sharon Maria and Ms.Renu Elezabeth Mathew. A documentary prepared by the students was played with the title “LETS BE THE CHANGE”. The act was based on how we humans are treating the nature and the future of next generation. The act was fully scripted and directed by the students. A Quiz section was conducted based on the theme. Various other small mind games were also conducted on spot in a successful manner. An oath taking ceremony was conducted to make students aware and take a step towards saving the Earth. The students of IV Pharm D as an inspiration to the whole college took a step forward in saving the Earth by planting saplings in our medicinal garden. A recycle gallery was created and exposed by the students of IV Pharm D showing how they can reuse the plastics and other waste materials.
World Aids Day 2019
Our Final B.Pharm Students and faculties observed world aids day on 14/12/2019 at The New Dawn Children’s home, Maniyanur, near by paramathi, Namakkal. They spent their whole day with the children’s of the home. Our students organised various sports and cultural activities for the home children. The winners of the events were awarded with prizes such as notebooks, pencils, pens, scales, sharpeners and eraser by our students and faculty. We observed the happiness of the children while they are collecting the compliments from us. All the children looked so excited and joyful. The caretaker of the children at orphanage home helped us to conduct various activities along with us. Necessary arrangements were made to provide food for the children at home. We served the food for them in the lunch time.
As per the theme, we continued our programme with “PLANT SAPLING AND DISTRIBUTION” at the home. The students and faculties from orphanage joined with us for plant saplings with lot of enthusiasm.
INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN – 25 TH NOVEMBER 2019
International day for elimination of violence against women was observed by our III- Semester B.Pharmacy students on 28 th November 2019. Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today remains largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma and shame surrounding it. Violence against women continues to be an obstacle to achieving equality, development, peace as well as to the fulfillment of women and girls human rights.
Women's rights activists have observed 25 November as a day against gender-based violence since 1981. This date was selected to honour the Mirabal sisters, three political activists from the Dominican Republic who were brutally murdered in 1960 by order of the country’s ruler, Rafael Trujillo (1930-1961).
On 20 December 1993, the united nations general Assembly adopts the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women through resolution 48/104, paving the path towards eradicating violence against women and girls worldwide. The 2019 theme for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is ‘Orange the World: Generation Equality Stands against Rape’.
Sticking with theme our students observe the day with many good events and decorated the arena with lot of informative posters and pamphlets, a small museum about eminent women personalites in our society and with themes of elimination of violence against women that observed all over the years. A tamil pattimandram on the title “குடும்ப ஆரோக்கியத்தில் அதிக அக்கறை காட்டுவது ஆண்களே பெண்களே”. A skit about cause and effect of domestic violence and responsibility of family members towards the family and society in the elimination of violence against women’s. All the faculty members and B.Pharmacy students participated in the session.
WORLD DIABETES DAY – 2019
World diabetes day was observed by our I-D.Pharm Students on 14th February 2019. The theme behind observing diabetes day was to raise awareness about the impact of diabetes has on the family and to promote the role of the family members in the management, care, prevention and education of the condition.
The day was observed with many events and programs pitching the importance of diabetes management to lead a healthy life. Our students performed skid, quiz program and view videos about diabetes that stress the importance of family members support in management of diabetes and other complications occur with diabetes for geriatric patients. Venue of the event was decorated with charts and posters about diabetes management. All the faculty members and D.Pharmacy students participated in the event.
WORLD FOOD DAY 2019
World food day 2019 was observed by our III-B.Pharmacy students on 16.10.2019. The World Food Day 2019’s theme is 'Our Actions Are Our Future'. This year, World Food Day calls for action to make healthy and sustainable diets available and affordable to everyone.
With this motto our third B. Pharm students observe “World Food Day” at ST. Theresa's Home for children, Elanagar, Velagoundampatti, Namakkal. The children were very pleasantly excited to receive us. Our students greeted them with great enthusiasm. There was huge smile on their faces of homes children and our students were very happy to interact with them.
We made necessary arrangement to provide food for the children with the help of the home in-charge and we started enthusiastically to serve the food for them. As per the quote “To serve the poor is to serve the God” we observed smile on their face and also our students were fully satisfied in their service.
As a part of this observation we conducted games among the students according to their age group. Children came forward and participated with interest and cheer. The winners were honoured with prizes such as notebooks, pencils, pens, scales, sharpeners and eraser by our students and faculty.
We observed the happiness of the children while they are collecting the prizes. Finally we came back from the home with sweet remembrance of those children.
DENGUE AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Dengue awareness programme was organised on 22nd & 29th October 2019. The programme was organised in association with Primary Health Centre, Ernapuram, Namakkal. All the students and Faculty members participated in this programme and took pledge they will adopt good hygiene and clean habits at all time and will ensure the absence of stagnant water in the surrounding environment to prevent and destroy the growth Aedes larvae. Dr.Boopathyraja form Primary Health Centre, Ernapuram participated in this programme and educates our students how to prevent, combat and manage Dengue fever. Nilavembu Kudineer was distributed to all the participants of the awareness programme that potentially inhibits dengue fever.
World Pharmacist Day - 25th September 2019
Theme : “Safe and effective medicines for all”
World Pharmacist day 2019 was observed by our Pharm. D interns. The celebration started with pharmacist anthem. Welcome speech was given by Nainu SB followed by Anitta Varghese introduction on Pharmacist’s day. The gathering was then addressed by our Principal Dr. G. Murugananthan. An activity was done to create awareness about Osteoporosis in women where all the female faculties and students participated in the celebrations. Then all the faculties who attended the celebrations shared their experience about being a pharmacist and wished good luck to the entire budding pharmacists. Pharmacist day theme representation speech about ‘Safe and effective medicines for all’ was given by our intern Blessy Paulson. Videos related to pharmacist day were displayed. As the part of the program quiz competition was held between the pharmacy students and the winners were distributed with Prizes.
A fun filled session took place where pharmacy related memes and posters were displayed. Changes that could be opted to improve our pharmacy profession were an interacting session that followed where the audience participated actively. Puzzles of three different categories were given to the audience to participate and prizes were given to those who found the correct answers in each category. Finally the session was concluded with National anthem.
